Business Development Specialist

As part of programmatic and membership support, the Business Development Specialist is responsible for bringing business growth opportunities for clean energy and small to mid-size construction businesses. This position is expected to assist in determining feasibility and capability of desired projects with participant businesses. The Business Development specialist is expected to stay abreast of changing trends and policies regarding the construction and clean energy industry, the bidding process, and contracting procedures on both private and public projects. A successful Business Development Specialist will come with a network of relationships that can be leveraged to help small and mid-size businesses achieve successful procurement opportunities in the construction and clean energy sectors and will be comfortable building new connections in both industries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist businesses participating in the CEJA Incubator program to become more knowledgeable and competitive to win contracts on new projects and create a footprint within the Green Construction Sector.
  • Maintain a good pulse on procurement and business development opportunities with the goal of informing HACIA membership
  • Provide bid leads to businesses interested in working in the private and public sector.
  • Monitor businesses participating in the CEJA Incubator program throughout their bid proposal processes, ensuring progress toward relevant goals and metrics defined by the grant.
  • Track and compile data as it pertains to companies served, proposals submitted, contracts won, and other metrics necessary to evaluate programmatic success.
  • Cultivate relationships with all HACIA stakeholders, particularly with agencies in the Construction and Clean Energy Space.
  • Serve as liaison between participants, resource partners/providers, and other organizations as directed.
  • Communicate with Programs and Membership leadership on knowledge gaps for the purpose of developing new trainings for participants and members.
  • Establish and maintain strategic contacts/relationships within varying acquisition systems and community partners; call on these contacts for help in assisting participants.
  • Plan and coordinate activities consistent with the goals and objectives of the CEJA Incubator program.
  • Engage in online learning classes/webinars for continued professional development related to bidding and procurement.
  • Attend networking, outreach, and other events as needed in order to establish relationships and find opportunities to bid for CEJA Incubator participants and HACIA members.
  • Serve as an ambassador for HACIA and attend occasional evening events within the industry as directed.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and at least three (3) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
