Background:
On behalf of owner Midwest Gaming & Entertainment, Development Management Associates, LLC (DMA) managed the casino development from start to finish, including: design, construction, accounting, and LEED certification.
The 137,000 sf casino complex will be the world’s first LEED Certified casino, targeting Gold status. Rivers Casino includes a 43,000 sf smoke-free gaming floor with 1,050 slots and 48 table games, a host of exciting lounge and dining venues, and a multi-level outdoor patio.
Green features include:

• The project utilizes heat wheels to recapture otherwise wasted heat, contributing to an energy savings of 27%
• Landscape design with native and drought-resistant plantings
• Low flow fixtures reduce water consumption by 40%
• Skylights provide natural light to gaming and dining areas
• Living green walls inside and out
• Use of high albedo roof membrane aid in reducing the heat island effect
• 35,330 tons (90%) of construction waste was diverted from landfill
• A purchase of Green Power offsets 70% of energy consumption
• A 5-level parking deck that was built with locally produced precast recycledconcrete and steel
• LED lighting throughout the parking deck reduces energy consumption by 40%
• Intelligent parking system uses overhead LED lights to signal taken and openspaces
• The Casino offers free valet parking for low emissions and fuel efficient vehicles
• Car charging stations for EV cars are provided through the valet service

These features not only minimize resources use, but also create a comfortable environment for patrons. As a result, Midwest Gaming has created a casino unlike any other.
