Responsibilities:
1. Project Review:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and walkthroughs to gather additional project information.
2. Quantity Takeoff and Cost Analysis:
- Perform quantity takeoffs and material quantities from project drawings and specifications.
- Analyze project costs, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to accurately calculate project costs.
3. Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for construction projects.
- Research and gather pricing information for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Ensure that cost estimates are accurate, competitive, and in line with project requirements.
4. Bid Preparation and Submission:
- Prepare bid documents, including pricing schedules, bid forms, and qualifications statements.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain bids and pricing for project components.
- Submit bids and proposals to clients and stakeholders within designated deadlines.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bid documents, and related correspondence.
- Prepare and present cost estimates, analyses, and reports to management and project teams.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in construction estimating or related field is an asset.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., RSMeans, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
