President Barack Obama's economic stimulus package included an unprecedented $8 billion to develop fast railroad corridors, also promising to add an additional $1 billion a year in the future. High-Speed Rail in the U.S is no longer a vision-today it clearly is becoming a reality for the future! This Symposium discussed the advantages associated with high-speed rail concepts and benefits, which will be afforded to various industries.
Presentations of successful High-Speed Rail programs implemented in the northeastern region of the United States along with established projects in Europe and Japan were highlighted. In addition, Symposium participants benefited in hearing from industry experts along with a special presentation from our distinguished Keynote Speaker, Illinois Senator Richard Durbin.
A host of major Architectural, Engineering and Construction companies and professionals were in attendance. Small to medium size firms participated in the event as well seeking opportunities in solidifying new relationships as partners in contracting and in assisting to meet procurement mandates or requirements.
High Speed Rail is playing a major role in the infrastructure of our country as we envision potential efficient, sustainable and comfortable corridors of travel from Chicago to St. Louis and other major cities being established. High Speed Rail will also play a major role as well within the framework possibility of Chicago being awarded the 2016 Olympics later this year!
